Reference Data Service

Version 2.0 (API) / 2.0 (Service)

Reference data is defined as information that is used in look-ups to better understand, evaluate, or manipulate other data, and includes the possible data values for each information fact that has a finite, manageable set of valid values.

The D&B Direct API uses Reference Data in the following ways:

• To decode codified data (i.e. providing a descriptive meaning),

• To perform Language Translation (e.g., a description in a specific supported language, etc.),

• To provide cross-references (e.g., SIC to NAICS codes, D&B Geographic Reference Identifier to ISO 2-Alpha Country, etc.).

For all codified data delivered by D&B Direct, the response package will include the decoded text value as a data element with the code value attached as an attribute.

All D&B Direct customers are entitled to utilize this service, and no usage fees will be incurred when invoking the operations.

This D&B Direct service includes the following functionality. The respective SOAP and/or REST pages provide technical details including input parameters, responses and sample requests.

Function / Overview Link Operation / SOAP Resource / REST
D&B Standard Code Tables ListDNBCdTbl() GET referencedata/dnbcdtbl
  ListDNBCdVal() GET referencedata/dnbcdval
  ListGeoInfo() GET referencedata/geoinfo
  ListIndsCd() GET referencedata/indscd

The ListDNBCdTbl function provides a complete list of Standard Code Table System (SCoTS) tables.

The ListDNBCdVal function provides values for a specific SCoTS table.

The ListGeoInfo function provides geographic names and tagging values for continents, countries, states/territories, counties, towns and Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA).

The ListIndsCd function returns complete industry code tables.

ListDNBCdTbl GET{version}/referencedata/dnbcdtbl
ListDNBCdVal GET{version}/referencedata/dnbcdval
ListGeoInfo GET{version}/referencedata/geoinfo
